You can get instrumentals on most songs. Bands like the Beatles used a stereo-concert system which meant the instruments where stereo but the vocals where mono so if you feed both tracks through a mono output and invert one of them you can get a near instrumental of the original track. lower the vocal range volume to achieve a full instrumental. This can be done with stereo reel-to-reel machines or software's (Such examples are audacity.)
