The CG MSST and AMO work hand and hand on a regular basis, as well as working within the HITRON CG groups. Look up "MSST Vertical Insertion" on youtube - showing an AMO and CG MSST vertical insertion training. MSST also secures the waterway for the G summits and presidential visits for the secret service with the CG strikeforce conducting CBRN detection for them.

@asuwish0000 But usually they use CBP AMO whenever possible because they are more suited to marine smuggling investigations. Not the fault of CG, but they just aren't set up to be stealthy. CG is definitely the best at protecting lives on the water though.

@asuwish0000 First, I'd like to say that I respect the hell out of the CG. However, ICE (US Customs) had title 19 before the Coast Guard. Secondly, no one is better at maritime smuggling INVESTIGATIONS than ICE. Take a close look at CG seizures, and I'm sure you will find that many of them were part of an ICE investigation. In my area, CGIS agents are assigned to ICE doing maritime smuggling investigations. They utilize regular coast guard units on occasion to make stops, etc.

With all respect to ICE SRT -The CG is THE maritime LE agency for the US with 42,000 on active duty, 7,500 reservists, 30,000 auxiliarists, & 7,700 full-time civilian employees. They are the only group with this statutory authority under 14 & 19 USC. Anyone else is merely a duplicate effort. While ICE arrests more on land- that is where they should remain. NO ONE makes more arrest or conducts more ops in the maritime environment than the CG. Thus the name COAST GUARD. Source:GAO HLS 2010.

@asuwish0000 ICE does more criminal enforcement ops in the U.S. than the Coast Guard ever will, with about 8,000 agents, GS13 salaries and take home grides they don't want to be the USCG, trust me...
