Times have changed since last September. That is how Alberta's new health minister and Alberta health services officials are describing yesterdays decision to put planned hospital bed closures on hold.
In September, AHS CEO Stephen Duckett revealed plans to close nearly 350 acute care beds in Calgary and Edmonton. Now tose plans are on hold. Today, Duckett and Health Minister Gene Zwozdesky explained what led to the reversal in policy.
