Review and shooting test of the new Ruger SR22 pistol, .22 LR. Overview of the pistol includes closeups of all the working features; dimensions, safety/decocker, mag release, sight system, double/single action, and field strip. Shooting test includes a variety of ammo from 30 to 60 feet.

This pistol was released to the market the first week of January 2012. Retail is $399; my cost was $330 via a licensed dealer, plus background check fee and state tax. With all of that this still went out the door at well below the retail price.

Future videos with the SR22 will include long range shooting and ammo tests.

  • Great videos! After watching your videos I feel like you might be able to help me choose between the SR22 or S&W MP22, any suggestions?

  • @cta113083

I don't have any experience or knowledge of the S&W. I have handled the Walther at a gun show but that's it.

  • Great video - also watched the high velocity ammo vid. Have been looking for a 22 pistol to shoot with my daughter and will look closer at the Ruger.

Can you compare the SR22 with the Walther P22? Similar guns - I prefer the conventional mag release on the Ruger - but at the end of the day I'm really looking for reliability and consistency.

  • @NCtrailX

I think someone has compared both in the same video, and was posted January 2012, right after the SR22 came out. It probably has alot of views and should be easy to find.

  • Just look for new sr22 review by coolestrenoguy.cause I am a blue collar regular not a gunshop owner or promoter.

  • @coolestrenoguy

I'm blue/white collar guy myself. I won't be shilling anything; will say it like it is because I pay for this stuff and actually use it.

  • totally sweet.... good fair price also... ruger makes quality stuff

  • I like your video and your thoroughness of topic. You are very articulate. Some of your camera angles are way superior to others in gun reviews, although, like them, your camera normally seems to live in a tunnel (common in most YouTube stuff).

Good work. By the way, one of the things I hear from people NOT liking the Walther P22 is that it has a zinc (alloy) slide. Otherwise, the Ruger is very much like the Walther.

  • I was gonna run out of ammo(as you lay it down on a pile of live rounds) lol

    nice review! thank you

and I love the quickness of how you showed the ammo test. you didn't have to stop and have a debate about each box and the pictures on the box and whatever. You told what it was and shot it. thank you.

  • Great review! I'm also going to subscribe. Just picked one up and will certainly be watching the additional video time...They certainly looks to be a solid design and ready made for the after market folks to add to the already wonderful features. Everything from additional slip on grips to additional slide / barrel combinations. (Love that solid barrel mount bet that adds to accuracy potential)

  • I am subscribing. You have mastered the art of reviewing guns! Thank you!!!!

  • i want it!

  • Fantastic review. You have got yourself a new subscriber.

  • Great review thank you very much.

  • odd, i had the same problem with one of the magazines. it only jams up with the one.
