For more info about proposed Catholic school and church in Flagstaff, visit http://carryabigsticker.com/news/catholic_church.htm This video was shot Sept. 17, 2009.I (Dan Frazier) climbed one of the tallest Ponderosa Pine trees in the area of the proposed Catholic School on McMillan Mesa to get this shot. I brought with me a 9-foot plastic pole on which I had mounted my camera. The pole enabled me to raise the camera above the top of a tree. The final height of the camera was calculated to be about 53 feet above the ground on which the school is to be built. I used a tape measure to check how high I had climbed. The height of the school is proposed to be 57 feet, four feet higher than the highest camera position. The video shows that the roof of the school will be visible from a wide expanse of McMillan Mesa, and also from certain places in the nearby neighborhood at the top of Ponderosa Parkway. The roof will also be visible from Enterprise, up to and including a portion of Butler and a portion of Route 66. The roof should be visible from Sam's Club, the Hospital, and certain points near the Purina Plant. The video also shows how beautiful this area of McMillan Mesa is. What a shame if the San Francisco de Asis parish is allowed to build a large church, school, two playing fields, a playground, and parking lot for 375 cars, thus destroying 14 acres at this site. If you are concerned about this issue, please get involved. Visit http://carryabigsticker.com/news/catholic_church.htm to find out how you can help.

On the same Web site, I have posted some frame-grabs from this video, and added some notations to point out various buildings and landmarks that are visible from 53 feet (and from these points, the roof of the school should be visible).

The video has some audio, with me making a few comments at the beginning. Thanks for watching.
