Location: Reigate Hill. In WW2, this old chalk quarry was chosen to be the top-secret underground Battle HQ Communications Centre right beside General Montgomery's South Eastern Command.

This video pinpoints the secret location.

An illustrated talk is available as from 6 March 09. Never before have the engineering plans, photographs and maps been shown to the public together with intriguing bits of information from local people.

When was it built? Feb 41 - 13 June 41

What was the intention?
To construct an underground shelter with a cover of 30 feet, access being by three adirs to a grid consisting of back and front galleries, 9 chambers, a standby engine room and a gas filtration room. All chambers and galleries were to be supported by steel colliery arches and arcuate sheets.

Who built it? Welsh miners (Royal Engineers)
