In an environment-related development, the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission (KACC) has impounded 62 un-roadworthy motor vehicles at the port of Mombasa. The vehicles according to the anti-corruption commission, were imported contrary to importation regulations and could cause massive pollution. NTVs Nimrod Taabu reports.
I am sure most of these cars are NOT unroadworthy. They were not rejected from their country because they were bad. They are just being sold because( for example) the owner has bought a new car, and there is no market locally for used cars. Rather than jugding cars based on their age, tests like for commercial/ psv vehicles should be done regularly for all cars... that is if corruption does not ruin this system as well.

@nedatronics
B4 @K ans u, I could help. Donkeys have a life span of 30 to 50 years, which is greater than these Japanese/Dubai rejects! A donkey consumes zero fossil oil contributing zero to global warming! This animal can survive extreme droughts is affordable to both urban poor and desperate pastrolists hence the nickname beast of burden. I would bet on a donkey anytime!

@karuitha Because your country has no capacity to manufucture its own. Or would you prefer the citizenry to ride on donkeys?

Never judge a book by its cover, Kaptnatui! Old cars emissions and insurance costs are all too high for these rejects. The taste of the pudding is in the eating, (bibi/jamaa mrembo anaweza kuwa balaa ukimpeleka nyumbani...wahenga husema angalia makini i.e. engine kwanza!)

Kenya Bureau of Statistics compromised? this is the problem of picking half-baked KIMC graduates. and since when did KACC become become NEMA and vehicle inspection department? Kenya is fucking confused! why can't the KACC show us the impounded people who have been arrested for being compromised? this is a game of musical chairs

Wakisuvi: Would be comfortable if future technicians learnt engineering skills using faulty models? Yu know why we got the silly Nyayo Pioneer...? Same attitude u have here!

@K uright! Old cars use more fuel, require frequent maintance and parts replaced. If they are rejected in Dubai why dump them onto greedy Kenyans? A motionless squad car is as good as no car! n looks can be deceiving...eh...even on Koinange street!
