$ 4.25 worth of soup meat and handful of flour
$ 2.25 can vegetable juice and beef bouillon granules or soup stock
$ 1.50 - 1 large onion
$ 1.00 - cup of quick barley and spices to taste: Italian, parsley, garlic salt, sugar
$ 0.50 - can carrots
$ 0.50 - can mixed vegetables

Shake meat in flour using a bag or large covered container. Brown in oil and place in soup pot. Add juice and soup stock and simmer, keeping mixture a soupy consistency. Chop and fry onion, put in soup. Add spices to soup. Cook barley according to package instructions. Soup can simmer without the barley for about 2 hours. Add barley, carrots and mixed vegetables. Simmer up to another hour. Serve with croutons, crackers, or fresh bread.
