Mirror lock-up is valuable too for this.

@Kikusgca Yeah I am also thinking White balance too. There is no white balance for firework on my camera. Should I stay at auto white balance mod?
-
wait what white balance should be used for fireworks?

Thanks, Mark and snapfactory! I found the tips on this videos useful, not only during fireworks season, but also in December to shoot Holiday decor.

This is a great episode. I am literally knowing nearly nothing about photography. I tried doing as closely as I can and the results are stunning.
I don't have a cable release so I used the 2 seconds timer on Canon 60D, my "wide angle lens" is a 17-85mm.
Thank you Mark.

does using bulb mode cancel out shutter speed ?

Awesome tips, thanks man.

@TiN0350 Way to be descriptive faggot. Herp derp.

@payakkeyur you want to catch some movement, not freeze it. that means you'll use a slow shutter speed (longer exposure) so you'll catch the trails of the glowy thingies, not freeze them in one point.
I set my camera to continuous mode, and have my cable release in the locked on position. This allows me to sit back and watch the show, and let the camera do all the work.
FYI: during the finale you need to drop your exposure way down, because of the increase in light.
