I get to see African bands when I can here too - Kanda Bongo Man several times & the Four Brothers in particular. If you want a recommendation, try & find Rudo Imoto (love is a fire) by the four brothers, and Moyo Wangu (my heart) byt Thomas Mapfumo & the Blacks unlimited. both are somewhere on You tube. not on YT but on the net is Kanda Bongo Man - Sana. let me know if you find them & what you think of them. pepe Kalle's song Gerant is also good, and Loketo's Embargo Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. I used to love going to gigs in Harare - Bhundu Boys, Real Sounds, Four Brothers, jonah Moyo, Oliver Mtukudzi & many others. I got to a Reggea Sunsplash in 1989, topped by Culture a tremendous Jamaican band. Several Zim acts were also on the bill - Stella Chiweshe, Robson Banda, & Ilanga and others. I went to wherever the Real Sounds played every time i went into the city. Many VSO volunteers were fans of the very vibrant music scene which flourished around that time.

I am trying to get hold of a copy or Get Real via amazon on CD if I can. I am also trying to get hold af another zim masterpiece - Thomas Mapfumo & the Blacks Unlimited, Corruption CD recorded in 1989.
i became friends with the Real Sounds & rarley paid to get in! Most of them were from Zaire (now DRCongo) & had married/lived in Zim for years. They were contemporaries of Franco another Congolese great. Listening to them again brought back wonderful memories for me - Thanks for that!

can you upload some more of their songs please? do you have the Get Real
album(s)? particularly the song Omba one of my faves. I used to watch these guys " 7 miles hotel in Harare when i was a VSA volunteer in Zim 1898 - 1991. Also saw them at other venues - Kamfinsa hotel, Club hideout, Jobs nitespot, and originally at the Bradford festival 1988 @ queens hall - great live band, at least 10 of them, a great full sound & they played all night! thanks for posting this

@ArtPro13 So you think they mean that Bobby Robson, the 55 year old manager is 'going to score at Wembley' rather than England's captain Bryan Robson?
-
wheres the radio 5 version????
-
Pretty sure it's Bryan Robson they mean in the song.
NO WORRIES. I AM TRYING TO ACQUIRE SOME OF THE TRACKS FROM "GET REAL".. OLD IS GOLD, YOU'RE RIGHT. MUSIC TODAY IS FOR THE MOST PART - HORRENDOUS. THOSE ARE VALUABLE MEMORIES U HAVE MY FRIEND!
