Ausgrid & Taronga Zoo
We reached over 20,000 families, and taught children about saving energy. The important lesson was how saving energy is related to preserving our environment.
Children love animals, and can relate to helping them as part of their world, so we established an experience at Taronga Zoo for them and their family to interact with during the school holidays.
The experience was an Augmented Reality event featuring a fully animated version of Taronga Zoo's sea lion "Nala", and her child friend Amy. The kids were virtually transported in to a dream world as they saw themselves projected into a "magic mirror" display. In here they could interact with Nala and Amy and enjoy an adventure that involves both the virtual and physical environment around them.
For example, you can feed "Nala" a virtual fish from a real fridge.
Technology used was a world's first Augmented Reality that creates a real-time 3d scan of the kids, and allows them to interact within both the virtual and physical 3d space using both virtual and real --life props. It is a realistic, life- size experience that rendered graphic animation based on movement , 360° around the subject.
The experience was coupled with a "take home" copy of "Amy saves the world" animated children's storybook, and hand crank powered torch to continue the lesson/experience.
