@warlockboyburns xbox and ps3 are configured to be able to use vga whereas most other things even computers may not be configured in the same way, I know this is an old post, but hopefully this helped out with an old problem.

YEARGH!!!

If it's just about the inputs/compatibilty issues, then there many are other less expensive alternatives; such as convertor boxes and things of that sort.
-
High-end CRTs like the GDM-FW900 shown (and certain CRT projectors) can easily handle a 1920x1080 signal at around 100 Hz, with even higher resolutions (at lower refresh rates) possible. Not all CRTs are pitiful SDTVs.
Good luck finding an FW900, though. Other than that and the few CRT HDTVs out there, most of the high-end ones (that can accept 2048x1536 signals, which 1080p fits into) are 4:3, which means letterboxed widescreen and eventually burn-in if you overdo it.
-
Doesn't do much good for sources that insist on HDCP, mostly Blu-ray or PS3-related. Blame the movie and consumer electronics industries for making that crap to force people to buy new displays to replace perfectly good ones like that GDM-FW900.
-
@OtomoTenzi Because that Sony GDM-FW900 in the video is better than any display you can buy for $250-300 in image quality, that's why. Chances are the displays you're looking at are cheap TN LCDs that don't even deserve to be in the presence of the penultimate FD Trinitron CRT.
Then there's the folks with older HDTVs, likely rear-or-front-projection CRTs. Do you expect them to get a smaller, likely inferior display for HDMI?
That said, the HDFury IS expensive. Gotta bring that down to $100.
-
And that old, fat Sony GDM-FW900 kicks the everliving crap out of most displays on the market today in terms of image quality, which is the only thing that should matter on a monitor. I'd almost kill to have one for the ultimate gaming experience.
I'm all for flat panels that can surpass CRTs in image quality and refresh rates while tying on input lag, but there aren't any right now. And when they appear, they won't be LCDs.

For around $250 - $300, you can buy a brand new TV or monitor with at least 2 HDMI inputs on it... : P
So why even fuck with this BULLSHIT???

i get "unsupported signal" when i use this with both my monitor and my projector from a freeview box (satellite box) with 720p hdmi out

so you ran an HDMI to a VGA adapter to the monitor. How did you get the color decoded to be accepted by the VGA? I have VGA 1080i max and need to get the best quality.

HDFury is a converter. you d'ont need color decoded
