Music Man Bongo 4

The third in my series of bass reviews... this Bongo 4 is completely original and currently sports brand new Ernie Ball Super Slinky bass strings.

Attention Big Poppa: I take back what I said about the bridge pickup. I get it now!

Sorry for the over saturated video. I have no control over the Vado HD's exposure and in trying to capture the black bass it is apparently overexposing everything else. For those of you interested in the production of this video, here are the details:
Bass recorded straight into my first generation Digidesign Mbox. Audio recorded in ProTools. Video recorded with Creative's Vado HD. Audio and Video edited with Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 (the $100 version).

I am not using a bass amplifier or speakers of any kind. No signal processing expect for some ever so slight limiting with Sound Forge (just to remove any clips over 0db).

Creation process - Record my voice (using a small Audio Technica clip-on condenser) and my bass simultaneously using ProTools. Take the .AVI video straight from the Vado HD along with the .WAV file bounces I made in ProTools and edit them together with Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9. Let Vegas render a "NTSC DV" standard .AVI file. The final step (for uploading here on YouTube) is taking the .AVI render and running it through DivX Pro 7 using the "720p" setting.

@bassplayer1494 - That's a pretty good assesment. Jazz on steroids indeed. It begs the question...what would a Jazz with a Bongo preamp sounds like?

anyone who know about spacing strings on this bass please!!!!

@bemolable - I never looked up the specs but it's a VERY nice feeling neck. Going purely by feel, the spacing is somewhere between a Jazz and a Precision. Not very narrow, not very wide.

Do you mind saying what you set your eq at to get your 'stringray' sound ? I've been trying for a while and I can't seem to get as close as you did.

That bass does run off of 2 batteries, correct? Does that get on of you nerves or does it not bug you?
