Hudsonville, Mich. (WOOD) -- A Hudsonville woman is recovering from a life-saving surgery made possible by the internet.

May Chystina Fischer was diagnosed last May with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

The cancer affects the bones and tissue. Ewings so rare that only 500 people world wide are diagnosed each year.

Fischer had underwent aggressive chemotherapy treatment spending as many as 15 days a month in the hospital.

Doctors told her she needed surgery to remove the remainder of her tumor, but she would lose use of her left arm.

"I pretty much thought oh my gosh I'm never going to be able to put my hair in a pony tail. I'm not going to hug my kids with both arms anymore, what now?"
Fischer said, "It was as if somebody had just ripped the life our of me."

But her mother Cyndy wouldn't accept that fate, and relying on faith she hit the internet.

With just one google search came a Youtube video featuring a New York doctor, James Witting, performing the same surgery Fischer would need. In the video the patient's arm was saved.

Cyndy immediately e-mailed the doctor.

"And I just said, are you the Angel who can help me. And he emailed back 7 in the morning and said.. I'm no angel, but I can help you."

An organization called wings of mercy flew Chrystina to and from her surgery in New York for free.

The surgery was a success and Chrystina is back home recovering with the twins.

She is giving all the thanks to her doctor and her mom.

Fischer's mother Cyndy has helped take care of the twins during this whole ordeal.

Dr. Wittig is using Chrystina's case as a success story for other people with her type of cancer.

Fischer should regain full use of her arm.

Doctor's think they got all of the cancer during surgery, but Fischer will still have to undergo a few more chemotherapy treatments just to make sure.
