@RetroSurferNews Right, I saw that it was done for about a year as they moved Independent Network News (then called USA Tonight) to 11:00pm. TVNutboy posted ad breaks advertising Hill Street Blues starting at 8:00 starting in 1987, then the 9 O Clock movie. It proved to be an unpopular move for WPIX and the movie was quickly moved back to 8:00.

@DanZero77 - Mr. Winslow also appeared in Mel Brooks' "Spaceballs." But as for the bumper V/O between the Mr. Goodbuys ad and "McCreary Report" bumper, that was Chuck Caron. In addition, at least one other Metromedia/later Fox station, WFLD in Chicago, used the "Drive-In Movie" title, logo and theme music.

Thanks for this!

Even as Fox 5, WNE/WNYW still ruled, for Fox wasn't a full fledged network then.

Wow, well that didn't render well. Anyways, yeah, all that stuff, and I still miss the Drive In Movie on WNEW for your Saturday afternoon kung fu fix!
