The Flabby Hoffman Trio (version 05/23/09) has a deep affinity for embedding a philosophical viewpoint into their tone poems. This thick slice of tushy swishing wall to wall riff-o-liciousness is chocked to the brim with layers upon layers of metaphor. Musically influenced by the work of the French enlightenment era, you know like Voltaire and Jerry Lewis, one listen and you will immediately transcend above our ignorant and ephemeral cretin comforts that we here in America seem to prefer. This song tells the story of Mary from the children's song Mary Had A Little Lamb and picks up where that story left off as she leads a revolt against our country as it has become a police state by default using the example of how people slept through the Presidential coup of the 2000 Presidential Elections as a rallying point to focus attention on how effective the media culture has been at getting everyone to be a spiritless zombie. And then there's lots of T & A and Mary has to turn tricks to keep mind and body together. The song ends as Mary, in the air on a flight down to protest against Clear Channel/Live Nation's merger with Ticketmaster is revealed to be a harlot and an adulterer thereby submarining her efforts to change the world for the better.
