@tjm7757 I'm sorry that it wasn't the best time for you. I imagine you were quite innocent and naive in your disclosure. There was still very little spoken about sexuality in the 1960s and 70s. We hadn't moved on much from Oscar Wilde's day, when he coined it "The love that dare not speak its name". At least once you were out, you didn't have to consider later how to broach the subject, wringing your hands with worry. :-)
