I try to demonstrate how I use a particular method of experimentation to learn so much about the various features of these software programs, including 2 exercises you can try.

  • One question, though, HOW can we change the Window's default soggy tune to an .mp3 we've created? Like, WHERE is the freakin' options for that?

  • Gotta use WAV, brother. Should be alright - you don't want your SFX too long...

  • Thanks. This isolated experimentation seems like a staple learning method for piecing together a vast subject like music. I also appreciated the Intro to Intervals which I found via warbeats. Hopefully soon I will reveal some of my own mad FL experiments. MWAHAHA. =)

  • Can't wait!

  • How the hell did you figure all this out??

  • Although velocity typically indicates the "strength" of a note, it can do many things. It is most often _mapped_ to volume, but it may also control parameters like brightness, attack, filter, harmonics, etc.

For example, a (real) struck guitar string sounds _different_ at different strengths, not just louder or quieter. It can have varying tones based on the strength or might make a bit of extra fuzz at maximum. A good velocity control will factor these sorts of things in.

  • So basically you are teaching people to create stolen music with subtle velocity changes ala Lady Gaga or ... any other musician today? Cool...

  • @DJSaschAustralia

College. We have a pretty decent music department here. Not sure how that fares across the nation, though.

  • @manictiger

Dude I've been thinking about doing this in the last few weeks! Did you just learn online or did you go to some teacher or someone?

  • @Xo1ot1 yeah man i'm in one at the moment :/

  • excellent vid! got me back on track again since I'm in a creative slump currently . thank you

  • I took some music theory courses. It's grueling but rewarding. I recommend every composer learn the classic methods. It might not be intuitive, but it will make you a better composer/musician.

  • @ROZEAUDIO Theyre underuns caused by your computer lagging because it cant cope with processing demands, make sure your using ASIO4ALL Sound drivers and play around with buffering length. I dont know too much on the subject but good luck!

  • hey Acepincter, awesome tutorial thanks ! can i ask you,do you have any trick to expand the 2 bar loop to a whole song ? Cause i get stuck very often at that stage

  • How do u change the default windows stuff

  • @KuraiX Music is sound. What you hear and recreating that is more important than the medium in which the sound is conveyed.
