Pete Fountain lost a lot of his prized possessions due to hurricane Katrina. He had a place in Bay St. Louis. He is one of the greatest. We miss the old New Orleans, it will never be the same.

His music is timeless it is really what keeps the heart light, I could listen to it all day, I just wish there were more of the music today that is really uplifting as this is.

@Arlenbr The best accolade was perhaps the standing O that he got from the tonight show band after a tune he played on Johnny's show.....

I think Pete Fountain is one of the greatest musicians. Love his music....Could listen to it over and over again......and then some more......

@sattakhim Unfortunately for those of us who would like to see this amazing work on paper, it is in large part improvised on the spot from a skeleton of chord progressions and basic melody...

I NEED THE NOTES FOR THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!

My father played with a lot of the musicians Pete played with. When Pete had a gig in Florida, he would stop at our place in Fairhope, AL and give us some of his home made cracklin.

@ganormand What's your father's name, I might know him. Also, what is 'home made cracklin'? I probably should know but don't.
Thanks

I see he gave up the crystal mouthpiece!MY teeth are too shot to play much anymore! I wonder how he manaaged to keep his! I got a Selmer seris 9 B-flat clarinet. What does he have?

To my knowledge he still plays a 4* O'Brien Glass mouthpiece today. The clarinet he plays is an older 15mm bore LeBlanc 1612G, the G stands for gold keys. The 1612 model LeBlanc has forked Bb and articulated G# keys. Your series 9 is also a 15mm bore clarinet and a very good clarinet, I used to own one years ago.

Underrated? Pete Fountain? I suspect that the only people who may have underrated him are those who haven't yet listened to him. He's worth every accolade ever given him, and deserves all the credit he can get. A national treasure, vastly superior musican, and just outright great on the ears and the soul. If you don't have at least one album at home to enojy this talent, GO BUY ONE NOW!!! Better yet, if he's still playing New Orleans, get there before the next flood!
