Biblical Illiteracy in the Media - Bob Beckel - Fox News "The Five" 7/14/11

The media is full of Biblical illiteracy. Too many people take what these fools have to say, as truth. It's not Truth. It's trash, and you can easily see that as Bob Beckel is exposed by The Word.

He says he is Christian? I have trouble believing he is a TRUE Christian.

Bob Beckel is a typical liberal Democrat, not known to be strong Christians and often attack or make fun of anyone who follows Jesus Christ. In my belief, the vast majority of Progressives, Liberals and Neo Cons do not have a strong belief in God. We need Godly people, especially in politics and the media.

Although that's not exactly an obscure story, it's not like he said "where does it say Jesus rose from the dead?" It does show some biblical illiteracy for sure, which should be addressed, but I don't think it's fair to say he is probably an unbeliever. He's not a pastor; he's a former drug addict who managed to find Jesus and turn things around. Give him a break.

.. by the Holy Spirit to to be tested by Satan. The not eating was part of the test to weaken his resolve, It wasn't to humble himself before God, so in the Biblical sense it wasn't actually fasting.

Note that Luke, who was the most intellectual of the gospel writers and the most profficient in written Greek doesn't use the term 'fast' in his gospel - he simply says that Jesus didn't eat anything.

Like virtually everything in the Bible this issue is far from clear.

Woah - slow down. It's not as simple or as cut and dried as you try to make out here.

Firstly, only 2 out of the 4 gospels say that Jesus didn't eat in the wilderness. Matt & Luke do - Mark and John don't.

Secondly, 'fasting' as it is defined in the Bible isn't simply not eating or drinking like in modern English. To fast is to deliberately deprive oneself of the needs of the flesh to humble your soul before God.

This is not what Jesus did. He was driven / taken into the wilderness ..
