I have to admit this is the best way to deal with them. They are real life trolls. If you fight hate with hate then you just get a lot of blood on your hands. Ignore them, distract from them and don't feed their fire.

totally agree with the approach to ignore them. I think there's some blowback that occurs when you engage them, they feed off it. Ignoring them won't make them stop, but it will take a little wind out of their sails, and they might not feel as much like they're in the trenches fighting "God's war" or whatever they believe if they don't have the opposition. It's like they look for an enemy. Don't do them the courtesy of giving them one.

@Bandersnatch41 The reason the KKK might like them could be beyond religion. I think it's safe to assume that the KKK are racist (given their history during America's notorious racial segregation period). But Fred Phelps had actually supported the civil rights movement (you could say its ironic then, that in this day and age he is not supporting a minority group) hence, the KKK may have a historical/political motivation for opposing them. Maybe.
