Am I the only person that knows him from a completely different game than this one?

This guy, Dark Warrior 2 is a final boss from the arcade game 'Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara'.

The differences between there and Tales of Mugen are the always respawning skeletons and more room you have in D&D.

I beat him without changing his hp.....

Just spam Cless' Chaos Blade, Lunge and Chaos Distortion Blade. (In ToP translated (DeJap): Soul Wave, Teleport and Soul Forge) This way he won't get up easily and you can win.

He's actually beatable, but you have to spam moves that do not let him get up.
