Monster Truck Runs Over Host

The announcer of a monster truck event at Charlottesville's John Paul Jones Arena was accidentally run over by one of the vehicles. The unidentified man is listed in critical condition at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

The announcer, identified as Ken Dickenson of Lyndhurst, was taken immediately to UVA Medical Center. University police declined to go on camera but Lieutenant Melissa Fielding released this statement about the accident. Fielding says, "It was almost like a perfect storm. It's hard for me to tell you why the announcer was standing where he was. All of the elements were there for an unplanned incident. The driver was not in a place where he could see the announcer because the truck's visibility was very limited."
