There are about as many ideas about twisting as there are gymnastic coaches. Here George Hery demonstrates what makes us twist using the laws of physics.

  • Great video . . . can we have more like this that explain the physics of a skill along with drills?

  • Thanks for the feedback. We'll see what we can do!

  • great video, my coach teaches the same thing, he calles it the teapot :)

  • @thegymnasticminute hi do you have any guide for a one handed stall? or a double backflip?

  • this is a really good video.

  • Why does he randomly have a hammer?

  • That was excellent!! Please do more on concepts like torque etc.

  • that was a cool way to teach a twist. =)

  • @BeyondOurLimits after you take off, just drop your left arm and use your hips to help get the twist around, and as you're doing that drop your other arm and wrap it around tight as well. both those should help get the full twist around :)

  • i cant spin i pull my left arm in first then my right but i dont spin on the backflip i found my direction of spinning which is left because of the other video but i cant spin any help?

  • Great illustration with the hammer! I always wondered how a twist could be initiated without the contact with the apparatus starting it.

  • I wondered how this works for years! Thank you so much!
