Brian Cox was so good, he spoiled Lector for later.Anthony Hopkins was great, but over the top in comparison.Cox defined the role for me, as a somewhat scary, condescending college professor.
-
@cosmicdingo I agree, he captured the essence of Lecter and yes, Hopkins was good but Cox was better, more subtle and consequently, more evil.

In my opinion, Hopkins was perfect (scary as hell and charismatic at the same time). Cox's version is more realistic, so I understand why some people like him better.

Anthoney Hopkins Lecter version- Scares the living crap out of you.
Brain Cox's version- Slightly sensual and realisticly evil.
Yeah, I go with Cox's version more.

I am disappointed now, the whole of the scene have significant parts missing. Gotta find my old VHS (lol) The scenes here are edited for length I get it. Is there a director's cut somewhere?
Pts missing are banter, correction, supposition, correction banter, back and forth... all ending VERY rightly scripted "... SMELL yourself!" Made him scarier and real.. wow.

Brian Cox is a great actor - but Tony Hopkins is the greatest actor (ever), and most certainly made Dr. Hannibal Lecktor his own. I do wonder, though, how Tony felt about duplicating this dialogue in Red Dragon.
-
@goatbut29 As stated in the dialogue, Will Graham caught Dr. Hannibal Lecktor.

@TheSkylur44 He's actually not that bad, but to me, next to Anthony Hopkins epic performance; his seems dull in comparison. Oh, and you're welcome.

@morpheues2127 Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. But thank you for your opinion.

This dude playing Lecter sucks compared to Anthony Hopkins, but I guess it all depends on which movie you seen first. Personally he is terrible, I've watched porn with better actors than Cox sucker!
-
@TheSkylur44 Dude you're just overly nostalgic.
Im too dumb to know how Lector fits in this movie with the others, or if theres no relation, where did Lector come from? Both movies could not just have imagined the same character! Love how dude is running like a bitch to get away from him too! Cant say I blame him! :p

@goatbut29 I watched this the other night and I just realised I don't know how Lektor was relevant to the story. Must've missed something.
