Carlos Rodriguez and his students at Rogers Street Academy demonstrate this simple activity to music, which takes little time or equipment. The video is shot in a bilingual classroom and this resource is available for children who speak English or Spanish.

Grade level: K-3
Addresses Physical Education Standard 1: "Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities."

You will need some form of music, a media player to play the music, and a stick that the teacher can hold (yard stick, floor hockey stick).

This video is shared as part of the Active Schools Initiative, which provides strategies to teachers and students for motivating students to be physically active outside of their physical education classes. http://dpi.wi.gov/sspw/physicaled.html

Video produced in 2010-11 by Milwaukee Public Schools with support from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Thanks to Carlos Rodriguez, Rogers Street Academy, and the students!
