"A major motivation for me to run for Congress is... it dates back a few months. My brother, who is my older brother, only three years older than I, actually just 52 years old. He was diagnosed with cancer, and it was a rare form of cancer. And her required experimental treatment. And even though he was fully insured he was not able to get the treatment that he needed because it was deemed experimental. So our family and our friends and his friends and loved ones had fundraisers to help pay for treatment. My sister in law, his wife, had to manage the coordination of his care which I can tell you was so complicated when you've got a loved one going through something like this. You know, I take a look at that and I realize that if you're not educated or if you don't understand the health system or if you don't have resources just how difficult something like that can be. And it does motivate me to try to make a change in that. I've worked in health care for the last 10 years of my career so I do know I little bit more about that. I do want to bring my background and my expertise in health care to help others and I hope I'm able to do that."
