Rita Connolly sings "The Deer's Cry" at Inauguration of Michael D Higgins, President of Ireland

This is such a lovely piece and so SO well sung. Well done Rita, Choir (Cois Claddagh Choir from Galway -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MF6bveA-huA&feature=related), Language-Signer and Musicians. A highlight! Good luck too, to our new President, his family and Ireland. We all "arise today". (Apologies for the poor video quality. I wanted to share this so recorded it with a handheld camera from from TV recording. It's likely someone will post a version in better video quality but, for now, I'm glad to have been able to post this. I know I'd like to have found it were I to search YouTube!! A special moment for sure!) @foleyp1976 It's on RTE Player so if you go to RTE's site and click on player but only for a few more days. I just took a look and Rita's piece begins around 34 or 35 mins ... As I said, I just recorded my own recording.

So moving. I loved this song on the C.D. Pilgrim's Way, which i bought some years ago .....this is my first time seeing Rita sing The Deer's Cry on tv. and with the choir backing her.....just beautiful! I'm glad to see our President enjoying it!

How hauntingly beautiful a sound is this - as Rita sprinkled her words soulfully the audience were touched one by one, and then our new President connected - and was visibly uplifted.
