  • okay well my equation is y=.29x+9

    so how do i get .29 into a whole number?

  • 0.29 means 29 hundredths... so a fraction for 0.29 would be

    29/100

    (This would not be a whole number because it is your slope.)

    It works for any decimal, just determine the place value of the last number of the decimal.

    Okay, well, there you go. :-)

  • @picrustable so i would rise 29 and run 100?

  • If your equation is y = 0.29x + 9, that would be a yes. 29/100 doesn't reduce. Rather icky equation. I suggest changing your x and y values to 10's and not 1's so it would fit on your graph.

  • Strange equations like this are not so nice for beginning students. You are more likely to see this type of equation in a business class. Hope that helps.

  • @picrustable so should I end up with this

    y= 20/100 + 900

    or do I just leave the 9 as a nine?

  • MrBlackDeath69

    Leave the 9. I would reduce the fraction so that it is easy to see rise over run.

    :-)

  • @MonstersNightmare Oh and I forgot to mention Y=MX + B when M doesn't have a numerator and denominator but it looks something like, y=4x+3.

  • I had notes that talked about finding Y by changing X to a 0 and finding X by changing Y to the value of 0. At first I thought it was for coordinates, but instead they used to form a line it looks like. Is that just another option? Also, I have seen notes with B having a fraction, and M having a fraction, but instead of rise over run, it looks like the dot is the fraction value. I'm getting too confused. :-(

  • Thank you sooo much! I was soo stuck on this. I also like how you put a lot of examples!

  • @picrustable OMG i have a math test tomorrow on this stuff ...and this helped me soooooo much....thank you!!!!! your the best
