For those who have such tank and want your betta to live long, Please LEAVE SOME AIR in the turned tank.

Bettas have a labyrinth organ which allows them to breath air. So, it might be better not to empty all the air out of the upper tank.

the fish in the vegining is like... DUCK IN COVER!!!!

I have seen some open bottom aquarium with bubbles air pump inside how they do that? Using logic the bubbles eventually spill the water on the bottom.
Thank you nice concept.

extra tip: add an air check valve to the air line so that as you're sucking air out and take a breather, air doesn't get sucked back into the tank.

Why did the water just go in that space and not overflow on the sides?

theres a easyer way to empty less noisy for fish suck water out then before its about to cause bubbles in the upper part you can put the pipe in the tower and blow once or twice then keep the pipe in the air part in the tower section and blow once more and be carful to not let it over flow the air is sucked in as the water falls out the bottom this can flood your tank but is less stressfull for the fish if you understand what i mean :P

@TylerJayHarris I totally agree, or just scoop fish in to a cup before draining. We drain and fill once a week in order to clean upper aquarium and change out about 1/2 a gallon. Normally the fish just takes cover beside the filter when we do this. It was unfortunate that he got caught in the bubbles in this instance.
