America does not own the world and cannot command it to cast shame upon Japan. It is a shame brought upon yourselves. Every country wrestles with its dark past.

Kabuki is the best theater in the world! Especially when it is played by Bando Tamasaburo-sensei!

@Sotkai11 i know they had stands but i was thinking it would have had to have been like a really big one like bigger than a maikos is
-
@tumblefan101 they had special pillows on small stands to rest their necks on.

@Deidara188 Yes, but what do Onnagata play? Women. The only reason the narrator is saying 'she', is because the dance is about a woman that the Onnagata is playing. Think before you post. Though I do agree with you about Tamasaburo-sama. He is a national treasure to Japan.

Tamasaburo is the best onnagata and this british narrator is stupid because the person performing here is a man
-
@Martinit0 It has this English commentry which can be switched off if need be. This dvd would on UK dvds so it would play on region 2 DVDS.

Magnificent kimono, most impressive I've seen, I must say...
-
Because it is disturbed, please do not turn on the English explanation. I am angry!

Severing of the finger hinted at here was not about severing relations. Some would cut off a finger to prove their love FOR the man. It was a dedication, almost like ownership. She would ruin her life for him.... next step, if they could not run away was Shinju - a lovers' suicide pact. Tragic ugliness behind such elegant beauty.

how would oiran sleep with such big hair

Hello friend I went to the yesasia page and it appears the DVD Sagi Musume - Tamasaburo Bando Butoushuu (DVD) (Vol.2) (Japan Version) is available for Region 2, but it does not have english subtitles or language.
I can tell you what plays this DVD has:
Sagi Musume: The Heron Maiden
Kurokami: Black Hair (currently viewing here)
Kane ga Misaki: The Bell Promontory
Inabune: Rice Boat
Yamanba: Mountain Witch
