The crew at Tech Media Planet got a hold of a Phantom Flex Camera. The camera was set to 5000 FPS. A few monkeys, vegetables, milk and balloons later, history was made. This is a short teaser of the full length clip available on our site.

  • what's the name of the song, please? I know it since i was very little but i forgot the name

  • @RHCPsTv Hey, it's called "Also Sprach Zarathustra" it was used in the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey".

  • is it correct that this camera shoots 5000fps in 2K?

  • @ALNUDN The camera will shoot 5000FPS but only in 1280x720 not in 2K. It will shoot 1920x1080 but you have to drop the frame rate down to 2500FPS.

  • How much was this camera?

  • @BlacksmithCinema The camera in the configuration we were shooting it in : Phantom Flex, Cinemag, Ultra-Primes, etc... was probably close to $400K. Camera+Accessories ($200K) Lenses and camera support ($200K).

We were definitely nervous about blowing something up that would "harm" the camera ;)

  • I lost it when I saw the monkey flip.

  • Hey Guys,

It's 100% 5000fps. We wanted to shoot everything in 1920x1080 but the camera is limited to 2500 FPS at that size, so we decided to shoot 1280x720 to be able to go all the way to 5000 FPS.

    Cheers,

    TMP

  • @porcospino289 thanks so much mate! you're are so right

  • @RHCPsTv It's pretty clearly not a song, RH. It's the opening bars of what TechMediaPlanet said, a tone poem by Dick Strauss based on the famous book by good old Fred Nietzsche, something to do with Zoroaster. Best known to generations of know-nothings as the opening music in Kubrick's film 2001, A Space Jaunt.

  • I'd love to see a cumshot from this camera!

  • 1:03 Feel like a fruit ninja! Fuck Yeah! XD
