Between 2005 and 2009 filmmaker Mariam Shahin visited Gaza three times to record the rise and fall of the hopes and dreams of ordinary, and extraordinary, Gazans.

From an entrepreneur who had high hopes for a prosperous future, to Gazas only girls rowing team. Mariam recorded people who saw a glimmer of hope for Gaza in the period following the 2005 Israeli withdrawal but now whose main objective is mere survival.

  • i hate assholes like you the reason they cant move forward is because the racist zionist regime called israel wont let them...face it even real jews hate zionists plus non-muslims lived peacefully in palestine before there was isra"HELL"

  • People in Gaza deserve to live in peace, prosperity and dignity - but the only way to achieve that is throught the contniuation of the talk between Israel and the PLA. Talks which the Hamas has vowed to derail by all available means. what's the point of rebuilding Gaza, when the self-centered, fundamentalist and reckless Hamas can reignite the fire as it sees right, in complete disregard to its collective cost.

  • Thursday the UN released photos of what it calls an Israeli chemical weapons attack on women and children staying in the UN compound in Gaza last January.

According to Palestinian medics, the december 2008 Israeli attacks on the entrapped civilian population in Gaza has left approximately 1330 Palestinians killed, nearly half of them were women and children.

More than 5500 others forced to lay wounded / dying in agony, blocked by the Apartheid forces from recieving FIRST AID from outside.

  • U know, its Al - Jazeera. Get a grip.

I didnt see that before now, but now Im out of here.

  • Its funny, I love the one sidedness of this documentary. At the beginnng of the film I really believed it would be fair and show two sides of the story yet I was strongly mistaken. I love how the journalist fast forwards from 2005 to the 2008 conflict without mentioning what led to the Israeli operation. The documentary fails to show how once the Israelis pulled out of Gaza it turned to shit.

  • damn israelies even confiscate rowing boats for a bunch of kids!!!!Shame on them....

  • Al-Arabiya's TV Director 'Abd Al-Rahman Al-Rashed: "Hamas' stupidly [only] caused harm: it gave Israel the opportunity of [forcibly] retaliating against the launching of a few rockets that are nothing but pieces of scrap metal. "The people of Gaza have suffered greatly as a result of Hamas' behavior, which caused the Israelis to reenter Gaza after its liberation by the Palestinian forces."

  • wow, keep following the PR. How about reading about the hundreds of Hamas politicians and people that have been tortured and arrested in the West Bank as well. And on top of that, ask yourself what led up to the breaking of the cease fire. I hope your memory goes back just a little bit further than late December! dumbass

  • watch?v=bpvuzdDpIiE

  • this is what the Hamas heroes are doing now that the IDF is gone: beating their political opponents senseless, and shooting them in their knee-caps in broad day light. their people are walking the streets with bags of cash, in hope that Gazans would forgive them for the disaster they have brought on them.
