Global Demonstrations for a Free Tibet
Chinese Consulate, New York City
In 1987, fifteen Tibetan Buddhist nuns, all in their teenage years, made a decision to demonstrate peacefully in downtown Lhasa for human rights and freedom of expression. The consequences were severe—all were beaten, tortured, and sentenced to long prison terms in one of the world's most feared prisons—Drapchi. Only one of these Buddhist nuns survived. On 8.8.08, the day of the start of the Beijing 08 Summer Olympics, she shared her shared her story of torture and survival publicly at the Chinese Consulate in New York City. One world—one dream—Free Tibet Now.

The US is the Wild Wild West and is barely a democracy. No doubt many other western coutries know more about democracy than the US.
