a.k.a. "South Australia" or "Cape Cod Gals"
First few lines are "traditional," the rest are, as per tradition, made up by the chanteyman (me).

Cape Cod gals aint got no combs
They comb their hair with codfish bones

Cape Cod mothers dont bake no pies
They feed their children codfish eyes

Yankee gals dont sleep on beds
They go to sleep on codfish heads

Gloucester boys they aint got sleds
They slide down hills on codfish heads

New London gals aint got no combs
They comb their hair with whale-fish bones

Down East gals dont wear no drawers
They pin their hair with lobstah claws

Noank gals are big and tough
They eat their lobster in the Rough

New Haven gals they sure got soul
They eat their lobster on a hot dog roll

Ipswich gals got real nice gams
Must be all them whole belly clams

Mystic homes are full of rats
They feed fried clams to their housecats

Connecticut highways aint got no tolls
They pave their roads with grinder rolls

Hartford boysdont use dumbbells
day-old grinders work just as well

Hartford babies dont cry at night
In grinder rolls they sleep real tight

This video doubles as the place to show pics from the Summer 2008 Connecticut food tour, when the theme was "clam shacks". See link to blog!!:

  • @itsalyssaktb Enjoyed the video. The Summer Shack at Mohegan Sun has good fried oytsters. I am not sure it counts since it is inside a casino. Hard to top the fried scallops at Point Loma Seafood.

  • I'm in Santa Barbara now, probably moving soon to Bay Area...been to SD a bunch of times. Yes, what I really love here is the tacos...I like al pastor style. The "real" Mexican food is prob. my favorite food thing about southern California; I wouldn't even touch most of "Mexican" food in New England now. Since you are in Groton you need to be eating grinders!...I also did a tour of grinders (it's in the blog)

  • Cool!! Where in Cali? I'm from San Diego...Instead of fried seafood now your eating carne asada burritos and rolled tacos...Dam I miss home.

  • Nice! BTW, the link is now up to the silly blog I did that this relates to. You'll have to let me know how Sea Swirl shapes up on repeated visits over time.

As for reggae lessons, sorry, but I live in California now. I know my reggae vlogs are really dry and boring, but if you just listen to a lot of recordings, that is the only way to learn well IMO

  • Good stuff!!! I live in Groton and frequent the sea swirl all the time.....thanks for the vid...BTW...do you give music lessons? I'm a reggae fanatic but can't find a teacher familiar enough with it...
