Fall weather has been beautiful in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The harvesting of grapes that were delayed due to mid-Octobers rains are now steadily coming in. The Martins are pressing out juice from Syrah grapes and making room for harvest of the Estate Cabernet grapes soon to be coming in.
The team at the Martin Ranch recently processed nearly 4 tons of Malbec grapes from their growing partners at Dos Ninas Vineyards. Simone, proprietor of the Dos Ninas Vineyards always lends a hand in the field and at the Martin Ranch Winery.
The Malbec grape variety is of a robust variety that makes a silky, smooth red wine. The Malbec grape is one of the six Bordeaux blenders. Generally, the Malbec variety is found being grown and made into wine in Argentina, however, a select few grape growers are planting this delicious varietal. The Martin Ranch Winery is producing some fantastic Malbec that is currently in barrellook for the release of this delicious wine in the near future!
