I'm not sure where I found this, but it's pretty cool, set to one of my favorite songs...

Capt'n Reynolds *whistles* god, I love that browncoat space cowboy.
This series was pure gold, short sighted executives at Fox couldn't see it... it didn't belong on Fox it belonged somewhere where it would be loved.
Sometimes I think its better we don't get another movie or series... not only that everyone is older now, but that I don't think I could handle Joss Whedons endings... they are often excruciatingly sad. I want the characters to live forever if only in my mind.
"Legally" and "Browncoat" do not go in the same sentence! *lol* River and Simon are honorary Browncoats because they're on the run from the government. Wash works for Mal, so he's guilty by association. Inara and Shepherd Book aren't technically Browncoats, but also guilty by association though they could at least pull some strings to get out of prison.
It is an important idea in the story that politically most people in the verse have been duped into believing alliance is a good thing and browncoats are degenerates. Inara and book both likely served the alliance possibly as spies or assasins, whatever side wash flew for he was probably decorated by the opposition cause hes a boob and jayne dont care about noone but jayne. If mal was superman jayne would be bizarro
I highly doubt that Mal would have let Wash fly Serenity if he'd been a pilot for Alliance and I doubt Zoe would have married him. He is not a "boob". Jayne cares about his mother, but otherwise, you're right, his main concern is himself.
a boob with the hottest chick in the verse on his arm is still a boob, if he wears a Hawaiian shirt to work. also how do you think serenity would fare against one of those matrix hoverships? They both look similar and gina torres is married to morpheus.
So you're judging him on his clothes? The clothes don't matter, his piloting skills are what matter and he's very good at his job. He also seems okay most of the time with the fact that Zoe is the stronger personality and could easily beat him in a fight. As for Serenity and the hoverships, no idea.
