Bryan Clay sort of stumbles a bit in the long jump in his quest to break the American Decathlon record. However, both Trey Hardee and Tom Pappas compete very well. SLOW MOTION is provided of the top jumps. The NBC Sports crew is working in the booth with the great voice of Tom Hammond and the analysis and commentary by Ato Boldon and Lewis Johnson. Ed Eyestone, a former Olympian, also helps with the distance events and the great Dwight Stones handles the athlete interviews and the field events as only he can.

if you're a long jumper you must not be very good. watch any long jump video of a good jumper, you will see that they shorten their steps at the end of the approach. because 1 it lowers your hips for take-off and 2 it'll set up your take off leg so that ur foot gets out in-front of you and underneath you correctly.
yes its true u do crouch a bit to get that boost but thats not a studder step. A studder step is when u shorten ur last 3 or 4 stride to compensate for a bad distance. FWI i jump 18 on average( Junior) but when i studder i get between 17 and 17.5
he didn't stutter at all. ur sposed to shorten your stride when you get near the board that way you make sure than ur legs stay under you rather than coming in at a full stride. im on average 23 foot, but ive gone 7.74 which is 25'4 (senior in college) and i don't even specialize in jumps. im a sprinter, but i've had to listen to my coach chew me out enough so that i kno exactly what im talking about when it comes to stride patterns in jumps. (a lot different from my sprint acceleration pattern)
yes i realize that thats what ur supossed to do as i said i long jump myself. Now in the description it says he stumbles and the dude says thats wat ur supposed to do im just sayin ur supposed to crouch not studder
