Uh, ExxonMobile recently posted the biggest profits ever recorded by a company in history. "You" the American are not the one for whom the imperial wars are fought for. They are fought for the ruling and capitalist classes in the West. You, I and the Iraqis merely pay the price for them while they profit.

The best way to stabilize as in reduce violence would be for the US forces to end the occupation and leave. The best way to stabilize as in maintain permanent military bases, control geopolitical energy politics, enforce our view of freedom=free market, and keep thousands of laws made during the occupation, is to simply continue what we are doing. Downplay the human costs and up-play our mission of democratic enlightened and how horrible things would be if the violent occupying force left.

idiot, on the geopolitical level all that matters is that the oil barrels are priced in dollars, instead of yen or Euros. It is completely irrelevant that we are "paying them". Its relative currency fluidity and control over other countries economies that matters not literal stealing of resources... do you think we are in colonial times or something?

Its not the US ~objective~ to destabilize, its just the predictable outcome of their actions. When you violently invade and indefinitely occupy a foreign country, the first thing to do is give it a local face. Those willing or interested in collaborating with the US occupation inevitably fall on secular lines. This throws oil on the flames of secular tensions. Shock and Aw your way into power & you create a strong example of "how to change things you don't like with horrific violence"
