@74mryoyo Gotta realize, he was improvising on stage near the end of his set, at Woodstock. I think his version is actually pretty amazing, given the context. It makes me think of the sour patriotism the counter culture was feeling during Vietnam, where they wanted to support the the country, but couldn't support the war. The national anthem, set to sounds of bombs going off=his version. I think it was a spark of musical genius, as was the entire setlist.  But, to each his own.

so, as a soldier, I wanted to play me some of our country's great national anthem on September 11 this year. As I was out in my back yard grilling hot dogs, I found Jimi Hendrix's version of it on youtube. I have never heard his version all the way through until that day, but this guy here isn't that far off. I believe Jimi was a great musician and probably had an exceptional mind, but this isn't too far off of the actual thing.
