This is what, we as parents and coaches do not want to see during a fun and safe hockey game. Novice Hockey Brawl in Ontario, Canada

As a coach of a Bantam female ice hockey team in British Columbia, our kids are encouraged to 'respect' their team mates, opponents, coaches and other parents. As a parent and coach we also help player parents to understand 'violence' is not part of the game either on or off the ice.

Canada's hockey dad, Walter Gretzky say's "If you want to show how tough you are, go into the corner first and come out with the puck".

@MurphyMonster No, especially not at this young age. You'd be kicked out for a couple of games for fighting if not the rest of the season. As the players get older it becomes more acceptable until it gets to the point where you're watching a NHL game and there's like 4 to 5 fights a game. Hockey gets a bad reputation for being a dirty sport because of instances like this, but there is a lot of honour in it.
