Are you voting yes on prop 8?
If you are voting NO, let me thank you for understanding the TRUE definition of marriage: LOVE. Regardless of gender, people marry for LOVE.
And by making their marriage "invalid," you make homosexuals feel like invalid human beings. You need to accept that it is not your place to make this decision, and that they are your equals whether you like it or not regardless of where you stand on marriage.
Also, You will not find anything in there that mentions kids or school or anything like that. The Yes on 8 campaign is dwelling on one example (one example!) where a teacher took her class to her same-sex wedding. a) She didn't do that because she was required to and b) so what? She's not a serial killer. Nobody died. Somebody got MARRIED. What is supposed to be a happy thing for people, the best day of their life, has been twisted and turned into a ruthless struggle for equal rights.
Also, Not everybody follows your religion, so please stop imposing it on others who just want their rights. This is not about you or your religion so accept it. Just because they offend you, you do not have the right to take away their rights. Stop blaming your prejudice on your religion and think for yourself. You vote how your church wants you to vote. You vote how your parents taught you to vote. But have you ever stopped to think about what's really right? Have you ever actually stopped to think? So fill in that "no" next to Proposition 8 and know that you allowed someone, who is not much different from you, someone who deserves their chance in life to say "I do," freedom.

  • i agree totally with gay marriage; you marry someone because they make you happy, and you want to spend the rest of your life with them, and if they happen to be the same gender as you, so be it!

But i think being homosexual is a choice. if it isn't, who's forcing you may i ask? God? I think not.

I think homosexuals are the bravest people on earth, becuase they take all this crap from homophobes. They do have a choice. Prop 8 is crap.

  • hey nice to see someone who agrees with and supports equal rights for everyone..

i think though, that being homosexual is not a choice, it is just something you're born with or whatever, just like being straight. you can't help it. but it's the choosing to come out and be one with yourself in front of the world is the hard part for homosexuals.

Why vote YES on 8 you ask?

    1) 61% already voted yes and that vote was taken away

    2) Society has to set a moral line and this is that line

    3) We don't want this taught in school

    4) We don't want churches forced to wed gays or chance loosing their tax exempt status

    5) Only 3% of the population is gay and they already have all the rights of marred people.

    6) gay, bisexuals (i.e., anything for a good time) while tolerated is not acceptable behavior!

    That's the Why

  • If that's the case why are gays attacking the mormon church, when only 2% of the people who voted yes were mormon. Gay People have placed bomb threats at their temples, and personal threats to individuals. Yet they claim that mormons don't know what they're going through. It used to being legal to kill a mormon.

  • you dont choose to be gay

"the only thing that Proposition 8 is doing is protecting the definition of marriage"

if that was true it would be about banning divorce not gay marriage

  • sorry thats a myth put out by those who support prop 8

being gay is nto a choice

  • but why are we worrying about some definition, some rule, when we're dealing with real people and their feelings?

  • actually, the true definition of marriage is: "the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc."

  • true. oh okay i thought u were against gay marriage.

  • Your right, why would I want to ruin one of the most important days in my life with the chance that some BIGOT might inject HATE into it. The day is all about LOVE!

and NO a minister can not be sued if he refused to marry a hetrosexual couple for any reason. A lie to gain sympathy for a bigoted cause. A hetrosexual can always go to the court house and obtain a civil marriage license. Gay couples can not.

Only in America can the oppressor play the victim card and get sympathy.

  • straight ppl can sue if the minister refuses to marry them. idk, but that doesnt matter, because that's not the point! its not about the money! i'm saying gay people wouldn't want to be married in churches that don't want them to marry. what kind of an ideal wedding is that?
