Only in England would this kind of event ever happen. Siamese Racing is an eccentric and unique form of motor sport, which is growing as an oval track spectacular.
The Siamese cars consist of a British Leyland Metro car perched on top of a Ford Sierra car with a brave (and possibly quite mad) pilot steering from the top car while an equally brave (and equally certifiable) driver operates the accelerator, gears and brakes from the bottom car.
Needless to say handling is not on par with an F1 Ferrari, so plenty of interesting racing action was on hand when these bizarre machines attempt to navigate their way around the 350 oval track of Plough lane Wimbledon.
To add to the fun of this championship race, banger racing rules apply, so drivers were allowed to put the bumper in as the race progresses. The 'racing' is a mere sideshow what really matters are the crashes, so a wild array of shunts, scrapes and acts of premeditated mechanical violence followed.
