the reason is: the night before he gave a very emotional concert (an evening with jm) where he gave all he could give live - incredible performance - so he he shot his gunpowder before this concert...

@nthsieh928 Probably the reason you feel more from this than you do on songs from Battle Studies is because Mayer said Continuum was his love afair with jazz, blues, and pop (which with jazz and blues brings soul). Then he described Battle Studies as a pop album which sets him up for his next album to be more guitar centered. He will proabably come out with another album similar to Heavier Things next. It should be good!

he must have had a soar throat or something that night cause he's performing pretty bad vocally compared to what he usually does. a pity, since he is AWESOME in every other aspect!
