While 100,000 American troops are to be on the ground in Afghanistan by this summer, international forces are still needed to achieve the objective. As countries around the world struggle economically, theyre second guessing their commitments to the war effort. So, the United States has decided to provide smaller countries fighting in Afghanistan with millions of dollars to train and equip their forces, to offset the price tags involved in fighting. Retired United States Army Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson joins Alyona in studio to discuss the idea of financing foreign militaries.
@eddiefreddie39 I agree with you with the corruption ... but let's stay you restart the USSR right? What will happen then? The more troops you send to Afghanistan, the more will die, especially the civilians have to pay for you "mistakes"! Sending more and more troops will not help you with what you seek in Afghanistan! There has to be diplomatic solution to this, you have to rethink this, think back in time and try to realize what mistakes you did and still do!

Do we need training grounds for NATO that are so deadly and intrusive against what most people want. If so can this situation not be changed over time to make sure Military ambitions are underneath economic grounds for good prosperity in the future. For Example can can Military technology be evolved well for domestic security yet defend the right to evolve the whole economy beyond war.

Gates should resign in disgust at this level of corruption. I say Restart the USSR . Maybe that would back the USA off a bit. Keep up the good work Alyona.
