@iamshunpike I respectfully disagree. I don't think this is intended to make being gay seem dark, rather it is to show a dark relationship, where one of the people happens to be gay. (Iwan's character might or might not be.) I actually see this as a step forward. If TV feels it can only show gay relationships as happy, our relationships are effectively being put in a special bracket that says they are fundamentally different to straight ones, as they can't be portrayed in the same way.
