I built this robot that assembles when you pull a lever.So I guess technically it doesn't assemble itself... but it auto assembles I guess? Perhaps an auto-bot? Couldn't really think of a better name. It used the invisible stair blocks (53:4) placed with mcedit, but can be witnessed in a mod free client.

    It's a pity that those very cool invisible blocks are not invisible anymore... In fact, Notch's team had planned to make stairs downwards... However, that doesn't decrease your talent and imagination^^

    Maybe one day there will be another invisible block (more interresting than block 36 I mean^^)

    Check out my video on vanilla invisible blocks. They can be made with mcedit, but you can use them in the vanilla client. Useful for adventure maps... and self building robots!
