Wow, I've been shooting for nearly twenty years and I've never shot myself, or even had an accidental discharge.

The funny thing is, the only person I've ever known who DID shoot himself, was (drum roll please) a cop, while playing with a gun he had just told me was unloaded. :D

Did South Park ever reference this? Law and Order SVU had an episode where a detective shot his pistol over some kids' heads into a classroom wall to show them how bad guns were. Last SVU ep. I ever watched, as any cop that did in real life that would be fired at the very least.

How many gun safety rules did this guy break. He failed to keep the gun pointed in a safe direction (his foot). He failed to check the weapon when he picked it up. He failed to keep his finger off the trigger, he failed to treat it as if it were loaded at all times. Accidents do happen but this could have been avoided if he used his "professional" training.
