According to Mahayana Buddhism, a Bodhisattva, or Enlightened one, postpones their own liberation from the cycle of birth and death so they can return, birth after birth, to help enlighten all other sentient beings. In the following video clip from a teaching in London, Andrew Cohen responds to a question from the audience about his views on reincarnation. In the process, he offers a new definition of the traditional Bodhisattva vow, one that is in accord with the perspective of Evolutionary Enlightenment.
His re-envisioned Bodhisattva vow - Teilhard de Chardin and Sri Aurobindo had envisioned this. See their works.

That was a horrible mess. His presuppositions are too thick to cut through with a chainsaw... i haven't heard another speaker giving so many statements that have to be taken as truth which are either not or worthy of FAR more discussion. This is like the extreme lateral take on new age culture.... and is more of a typical new age pep talk... "your okay! you can do it" than anything insightful about evolution.

I absolutely resonate with Andrew's viewpoint on the excitement of being born in the material world and our opportunity for affecting change on this planet. Thank you Andrew for helping the spiritual community understand that we have moved past transcedence to a place of helping others.
