I wish youtube would allow us to post websites addresses. But go to wikipedia and search "Economy in cuba". Find the graph on that page. The GDP per capita was actually worse than it was the 50's up until just a few years ago. Even now it isn't much better. But this is no shock to anyone who know even basic economics since communist economics have been shown to be unsound both in real life and theoretically.

This is a not a big, big lie. And I certainly wasn't defending Batista.

That is very questionable as well. Universal Healthcare is important, but Cubans says that it is worse than the Cuban government says.

Some might say that their healthcare is pretty good considering how poor it is. But I would respond that it is the government's communist system that has made Cuba so poor. I mean, the country was richer 50 years ago! There are hardly any countries in the world (including the poor ones) that aren't richer than they were 50 years ago.

The Cuba part of Sicko was pretty weak. The 9/11 rescuers was great, but his argument that Cuba isn't really that bad is over reaching. I mean, why the hell have so many people risked their lives to get off that island? I pretty sure it is because life there is not good. That's what the people who hae actually lived there almost universally say at least.
